In Memory of my
Father “Agapito Rivera Trevino” known as the “Caballo Blanco” in
Reynosa, Mexico.
Originally from the
valley, he was born and raised in Pharr, Texas. My father grew
up in a family that raised goats and he was taught the methods of
raising livestock for meat production. Our land was large enough to
herd over 200 goats which were used for meat production. In late
1969, he moved to Crowley, Texas. Being instructed in the art of
raising meat production goats came in handy. Enjoying life,
being united with the family and coming from the Hispanic Culture, we
would gather for a feast almost every weekend with my father & mother
(Maria A. Trevino). They would always prepare the Goat Meat called,
Cabrito - meaning Baby Goat. These are goats that are 30 to 40 days
old and they are considered a delicacy in the Hispanic cultures.
All my life I’ve enjoyed the healthy red meat.
In 2000, my husband
and I decided to buy a small Ranch in the country and move our family
there. The place sits in Venus, Texas. I would not change
it for the world. It keeps us going in life always continually
working on the Ranch. This move was done mainly for our children
in order to introduce them to a simpler more wholesome environment as
I had as a child. Raising livestock is central to our lifestyle.
We feel that this is a valuable source of “life lessons” for our
family.
We have full blood
Boer goats, Purebred and Percentage Boer goats that exemplify
the breed standards and
carry
some of the best genetics in the country.
We believe this mixture will leave us
with a very solid herd in the long run.

In choosing our
foundation herd, we searched for breeding programs that emphasized
heavy muscling, length, depth of body, strong top line and legs,
excellent maternal ability.
As
you browse through our website, keep in mind that our goats are in
pasture condition. Our does are rotationally grazed and browsed
throughout the summer and receive grass hay during the winter.
Supplementation with pelleted feed is utilized to meet the elevated
nutritional requirements during growth, late pregnancy and lactation.
We prefer our goats lean and healthy rather than heavily supplemented
and overweight. |
